16" Universal 12V 160W Curved Blade Push Type Electric Radiator / Intercooler / AC Condenser Cooling Fan

Part Number: SRU-PUSH16C-160W
Application: Universal 12V

Description:

Our range of lightweight slimline universal electric cooling fans come in a variety of sizes to suit most automotive applications. Featuring a more robust design and manufactured from higher quality components for improved reliability, our fans are perfect for use as radiator, intercooler, auxiliary engine bay cooling or AC condenser fans.

The fans are available as either Pull or Push type, with the blades being assembled differently for the two types. The motor is reversible, so for a Pull type fan you need to use the black wire as live and red wire as ground, whilst Push type fans use the red wire as live and black wire as ground.

Pull type fans mount on the rear engine bay side of the radiator to suck air through the radiator whilst Push type fans mount on the front bumper side of the radiator to blow air through the radiator towards the engine.

Where possible we recommend using a Pull type fan as cooling is generally more effective than the equivalent Push type fan.

Airflow Ratings:

When shopping for an electric cooling fan, you'll often see airflow ratings quoted in CFM (cubic feet per minute). While this might seem like a useful way to compare fans, these figures are often unreliable or misleading for several reasons:

    1. Lack of Standardized Testing

There is no industry standard for testing or reporting fan airflow. Some manufacturers test fans with no resistance (i.e. not mounted to a radiator), while others test them with shrouds or at varying voltages. This makes any direct comparisons between different brands or models difficult.

    1. Airflow Ratings Don't Reflect Real Performance

A fan's airflow in free air can be significantly higher than when it's installed. Once mounted to a radiator or condenser, the resistance from the core significantly reduces effective airflow, and therefore engine cooling.

    1. Many Advertised CFM Figures Are Exaggerated

Unfortunately, inflated numbers are common in aftermarket fans. Some fans claim 2000+ CFM, but use a low-power motor on a small fan, and will produce far less airflow that claimed.

    1. Motor Power and Blade Design Matter More

True cooling performance is influenced more by factors like motor wattage, blade pitch, fan diameter, and build quality than a single airflow number. A well-designed 120W fan with will outperform a similar sized 80W fan in real-world conditions, regardless of any airflow figures the manufacturer may claim.

Fitting:

The most secure way to install a radiator fan is onto a shroud or brackets bolted to the original fan or shroud mounting points on the radiator, so where possible we recommend this route. Alternatively, we also sell a Stainless Steel Mounting Kit (part number SRU-SSFFKIT) in our store which mounts the fan directly to a radiator core, similar to the commonly available plastic zip tie mounting kits but much stronger and more secure.

Please note this is a universal fan and will require wiring. The plastic connector contains 2x 6mm male spade terminals so it accepts two standard 6mm insulated female spade terminals for easy connection. We recommend wiring the fan direct from the battery via a standard 4 or 5 pin 30A automotive relay and inline fuse. We cannot provide vehicle specific fitting instructions as it will vary from vehicle to vehicle but we can provide general fitting advice, please contact us if you need any assistance.
